Eitan, Mehulal & Sadot’s international trade department is one of Israel’s leaders in this field. Our International Trade Department provides comprehensive services and legal counsel on all aspects of international trade, including disputes with various government agencies, as well as commercial disputes.

 

The department’s attorneys have extensive experience and reputation on all aspects of international trade, and were personally involved in the representation of major entities in the international trade reforms of recent years, both vis-à-vis government ministries, and vis-à-vis the various Israeli parliament (the Knesset) committees.
 

In the field of international trade regulation, Eitan, Mehulal & Sadot represents local and international companies in all aspects of trade regulation vis-à-vis the various government ministries, such as the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety, as well as vis-à-vis various government committees. In this aspect, our practice includes the provision of ongoing advice to the firm’s clients, support and representation vis-à-vis the various government agencies, and representation in court, where necessary.
 

In the field of trade levies, we represent both international and Israeli companies in investigations regarding dumping and applications for protective levies, before the Commissioner of Trade Levies at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor, the Advisory Committee to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor, the Finance Committee of the Knesset and the courts. Eitan, Mehulal & Sadot is Israel’s most prominent firm in the representation of clients on issues of anti-dumping duties and import levies, and was involved in the highest-profile cases in this field in recent years.

In the field of international trade regulation

  • Representation in an appeal to the High Court of Justice against the Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety regarding importation of spare parts that ended by mutual agreement.
     
  • Representation in appeal to the High Court of Justice against the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor regarding importation procedure of alcoholic beverages.
     
  • Representation of importers of playground equipment in a dispute before the Standards Institution of Israel.

In the field of trade levies

  • Representation of importers and foreign manufacturers of bituminous sheets from Italy and Greece in an anti-dumping investigation that ended with a decision to accept our clients’ claims and not to impose an anti-dumping levy.
     
  • Representation of importers and foreign manufacturers of brown papers for the carton box industry in an anti-dumping investigation, at the end of which the Israeli Minister of Finance decided to accept our client’s claim and not to impose an anti-dumping levy.
     
  • Representation of importers of white papers to the print industry from the EU in an anti-dumping investigation, at the end of which the Israeli Commissioner of Trade Levies decided to accept our clients’ claims and not to impose an anti-dumping levy.
     
  • Representation of a group of importers and a foreign manufacturer in an anti-dumping investigation in the matter of paper cups from China that ended with a decision to accept our clients’ claims and not to impose an anti-dumping levy.
     
  • Representation of importers and a foreign manufacturer of nylon food wrap from Europe in an anti-dumping investigation that ended with a decision to accept our clients’ claims and not to impose an anti-dumping levy.
     
  • Representation of an Israeli importer in a motion to reexamine the anti-dumping levy on elbow butt pipe fittings (welded and non-welded) from China that intended to extend the scope of products on which the order applies. At the end of the investigation it was decided to accept our client’s claims and not to instruct the extension of the order.
     
  • Representation of an Israeli manufacturer in a complaint regarding anti-dumping of wooden plates from China that ended with a decision to accept the complaint filed by our client and to impose an anti-dumping levy.
     
  • Representation of an importer and a foreign manufacturer of floor wipers from Germany in an anti-dumping investigation.
     
  • Representation of an importer and a foreign manufacturer of cattle food processors from Germany in an anti-dumping investigation.
     
  • Representation of an importer and a foreign manufacturer in a motion to impose an import protection levy of glass wool and mineral wool.
